What a terrific weekend. I have many things to say, so I hope and trust you
will indulge me with a few thoughts:
1. I'd like to see continued postings from those among us who may be making
future A.C. trips. As a solo traveler (from WDC), I would welcome the
opportunity to know that so-and-so is planning on playing this or that
weekend. Maybe 6-7 of us can get together and meet and hold a semi-private
game (at Resorts, naturally -- with apologies to the Taj, Richard). Of
course, room sharing on future excursions would be a good deal for anyone who
keeps in touch (especially me!).
2. It's unanimous....Jazbo did an outstanding job. I really can't say it
any more simply.
3. As a first-time AT-LARGER and newcomer to the forum, I expected a "fun"
event, but the comraderie among us was really unique. I was impressed by
several of our group -- both with their poker knowledge/skills as well as
their professional acheivements. When I told my wife I was going to a
Computer/Poker Tournament/Convention (I guess that's what you'd call it) I'm
sure she nor I had no idea of the calibre of people I'd be dealing with.
Everyone had something to offer the group in terms of its makeup. And I
think our positive attitude and jovial nature was also refreshing for
Resorts. A few of the dealers actually said they enjoyed dealing (hard to
believe!). Thanks to all for making my trip enjoyable.
4. I strongly recommend we follow Alan's lead and write brief thank you
notes to the Resort's brass. Although I did nothing in terms of the
preparation (others deserve much credit for making the arrangements), I know
that casino management frequently often considers poker an annoyance, and
doesn't really consider the positive ramifications of poker (I'll assume most
of our group don't need an explanation, here). If members of our group write
and say how much they enjoyed the experience (and IMPORTANT: that they gave
the casino some good table action), this makes it easier for places like
Resorts to offer more complimentaries and special hotel rates for poker
players. Take just a few minutes and follow Alan's example.
5. Finally -- I'd love to read trip reports from all. The more detailed,
the better. I'm going to write one that should be entertaining, I hope (my
working title: "How I Made $2 Grand Sleeping Through Pot Limit Texas
Hold'Em, and then Lost it All Back at Craps betting the DON'T PASS -- when
Some Idiot Held the Dice for 37 Minutes"). Read the posting here tomorrow,
or you can wait for the movie-video. I'd like Bruce Willis or Tom Cruise
(they'd have to dye his hair blonde) to play my character, but I'll probably
end up with Tom Arnold (the goofy guy who was married to Roseanne).
