Being a UW alum (class of '70) and having suffered thru the abysmal
years of Badger football back in the 60's, 70's, and 80's (although I
was a rabid, and "rewarded", Badger ice hockey fan as well), it was
with some satisfaction that I watched the UW football team win the
Big 10 title and then "trounce" UCLA in the '94 Rose Bowl :)
My dear little sister back in badger-land sent me some Rose Bowl
paraphernalia, which I wrapped myself in while watching that fateful
game on TV. But I have to admit that the UW Rose Bowl '94 cap has
hung on my wall, unused, for the past couple of years,... even tho
the old headbone is beginning to be "uncovered" and in need of some
additional insulation.

Anyway, last week as I was preparing for my trip to ATLARGE - the
ATLAntic Rec.Gambling Excursion, at Resorts Hotel and Casino in Atlantic
City, I considered the issue of what's the proper attire to take with
me. I immediately discounted the idea of "magic shades",... Dave
Hughes has already got a lock on them. And my two sons have already
ridiculed me with chants of "guido! guido!" whenever I reach for some
decorative jewelry. Then it hit me! Scanning the pages of CP and the
'96 WSOP guide, it became obvious to me that every (well,... OK, some
of 'em anyway) successful tournament player has got to wear a CAP!!!
So I pulled it down from its spot on the wall, packed it carefully in
my bag, and headed for AC and the tournament tables.

To make a long(er) story short, that good ol' white cap done me good!

Now if only I hadn't gotten so much sleep, drank so little, and played
not at all at the negative expectation table games, I might have done
even better. Next year I'm joining Peter Secor and Tim McGarvey and the
rest of the all-nighters :)

GO BADGERS!!!
