I realize that when a couple in the game they will often "go soft" on
each. This does increase their expectation (and hence, lower mine),
but it is minor enough that I will put up with it if the game is good
otherwise. It's really not too different from when two "buddies" are
at the same table and always check it down when they are head to head.

Dave, I'm sorry to say this, but I think you are over the line here.
I can tolerate half of couple dropping out of the auction when one
puts the other on a good hand, but juicing up the action to feed you
partner is collusion in a big way. Although you say you will "turn up
a legitimate hand," if it's one that can't justify raising I would
strenuously object. One reason I'm not too worried about playing in a
game with Karen and Jesse is that they make their living from the game
-- they can't afford to be barred & I assure you if they were doing
anything close to what you describe I would do my best to see that
they were.
