MATS - the Mid-Atlantic TARGET Satellite, is one of the "unofficial"
events being held (again!) in conjunction with ATLARGE (see my
posting from 12/16 in kman's email archive for other preliminary
info). This is an opportunity to win a TARGET entry and airfare to
LV, get some NL Hold'em play in before Saturday's ATLARGE tournament
event, garner some (more) "braggin' rights", and have some (more)
fun with your "fellow" ATLARGE attendees - note that MATS is an equal
opportunity event; *anyone* with the patience and/or fortitude to
sit down with the likes of foldem, HoldemAces, bwana, jester, etc.
is more than welcome to enter ;)
I now have (the first) 10 entrants registered for MATS'97. I will
continue to accept additional registrations for UP TO THREE TABLES.
If you wish to enter this TARGET satellite send your name, email
address, postal address, and telephone number, along with a check in
the amount of $65 (payable to me), to me at the following address:
Jerry Gerner
700 Warren Road #22-1A
Ithaca, NY 14850
I'll acknowledge receipt of your registration via email or, if
necessary, via "snailmail". In the (very) improbable event of any
registration "overflow" (i.e. no more than 3 tables and no more than
10 players at any table) I'll use postmark dates to determine the
order of receipt of registrations.
SOME SATELLITE DETAILS:
- Jazbo has arranged, with the cooperation of Resorts staff, to
provide at least one table (not a regular Hold'em table, but a
table at least!) for our use Friday afternoon in the same area
in which the BJ and Craps Tournaments will be held. This
arrangement should be preferrable to last year's site - my hotel
room ;)
- The event will be No-Limit Hold'em, with a $60 buy-in, plus a $5
entry fee, and players will get T500 to start.
- Blinds will start at 5-10 and increase every 30 minutes
according to the following schedule:
5-10
10-20
25-50
(chip-up)
50-100 (THIS IS WHERE IT ENDED LAST YEAR!)
100-200
200-400
500-1000
etc.
- The winner of the satellite (if more than one table, the winner
from each table) will get a prepaid buy-in to TARGET and an
"expenses-paid" trip to Las Vegas. The prize money awarded, for
"expenses", will be the total amount of the MATS buy-in's, less
the cost of the TARGET buy-in. The winner is obligated to play
in TARGET, and to abide by all TARGET rules.
- The prize for winning MATS is non-transferable! If the winner of
MATS cannot participate in TARGET for any reason, the TARGET
entry and prize money will be awarded to the MATS runner-up.
- The MATS winner(s) will be responsible for arranging his/her own
travel/hotel plans.
- If the MATS champ wins any money in the WSOP event, (s)he will
pay a total of 7.5% of his/her winnings to the other entrants at
his/her MATS table.
- All entry fees will be used to cover any possible tournament
expenses (of which there were none last year). Any remaining
monies will be awarded to the MATS winner.
- I will provide all playing cards and tournament chips.
MATS SCHEDULING:
I propose to conduct MATS on Friday (3/21) afternoon and/or evening.
There is a possibility that, for some, MATS may conflict with Friday
afternoon's official ATLARGE events (i.e. the BJ and Craps
Tournaments),... for those who are also competing in these events.
There is a possibility that, for some, MATS may conflict with Friday
afternoon's regularly-scheduled Resorts Hold'em Tournament (at
4:00PM),... for those who are considering competing in that event.
I will make every *reasonable* effort to schedule MATS so as to
allow everyone who's interested in playing the opportunity to do so.
In the event of unresolvable conflicts for any particular entrant I
will refund any buy-in/entry fee.
AT THE MOMENT (and this may change) I am considering scheduling the
(first; assuming/hoping there will be a second) MATS table "sometime"
between 1:00 and 2:30PM. If we need to, and can, play TWO tables at
this time, fine! If we need to play one table at this time and a
second at a later time that afternoon, that's ok too! A fall-back
time and location will be "after the reception" and in my hotel room.
In the event of more than one table, seating will be assigned first
on the basis of player availability and then via a random draw.
I'm looking forward to seeing everyone in AC!
