first, the bad.
last weekend, i contacted the brighton steak house at the sands, in order to
confirm my reservation for 30 people for 8 pm, thursday, march 20. i was
slightly irritated when i was told that (despite the fact that i had made my
reservation face-to-face with the manager of the brighton, and even gave him
my business card) the brighton isn't open on thursdays. ok. i was damned
close to apoplectic. and it was some 15 minutes before i stopped shouting.
since that time, the food and beverage manager of the sands, one "luke
andres" just isn't around to take my call...... :::::sigh:::::
next, the good.
well, i've spent *too* many hours scrambling around trying to find a place
for our dinner. and i think i've got it all arranged. apparently, no steak
house along the boardwalk is open on thursdays off-season. however, i've
pulled every string i have; i've dropped every name i know; i've pledged the
lives of my next three children.....and i've managed to convince the taj
mahal food and beverage manager to open the safari steak house for us. i'll
be meeting with him tomorrow to finalize details.
we won't have a full menu. however, (with the advice of nolan dalla, bruce
kramer, and mitch "bfb" firestone) i'll select two steak dishes and two other
dishes for entrees; and three appetizers.
