1. The Castle is now offering a deal similar to the one that Harrah's
started last fall. You get to play the slots for 1/2 hour for "free".
What that means is that they will reimburse your losses for up to $100.
Now, if AC is a bad trip for you, it might not be worth much (because
you must wait for them to mail you the coupon and then return in person).
However, I estimate the offer is worth about $50 in expectation. To
qualify, you must not have a Castle Card (or not have used it for a
couple of years). If you haven't tried the deal at Harrah's yet, you
could do both in one trip to the Marina (you can get there by Jitney --
$1.50 each way, I think).
2. Hale-Bopp. This comment will be very visible to the naked eye in
the early-evening sky (it should be obvious in the northeast sky,
near Cassiopiea). Best viewing hours should be 7:30-8:30. If we have
a clear night, it may be worth the drive inland (to get away from the
casino lights).
