ATLARGE 2009 was
held March 12-15, 2009, at
the
Taj Mahal in Atlantic
City. The
events were:
Each event was $100+20, which you will pay to the Taj
the morning of each event, or prepay at the Taj
beginning on Friday.
There was also a $20 ATLARGE registration fee to cover the
overhead costs.
The
AtLarge rates for rooms at the Taj were $99.00 on Friday, $149.00 on
Saturday, and $69.00 on other nights.
What is "ATLARGE"?
ATLARGE is an annual gathering in Atlantic City of poker
players who
originally "met" and/or still participate on the Internet Newsgroup
rec.gambling.poker (rgp). We get together in different poker friendly
locations throughout the US during the year to have fun and PLAY POKER.
Our biggest annual meeting is called BARGE and it is held in Las Vegas
in August. ATLARGE is the Atlantic City version, and is held in March
of every year.
ATLARGE stands for: ATLantic city Annual RecGambling
Excursion.
Historically, the attendance at ATLARGE is second only to BARGE. Last
year, over 160 r00lerz from all over the planet brought the good times
to Atlantic City for four days of fun and p0cker. ATLARGE 2009 will be
held at the fabulous Trump Taj Mahal, in Atlantic
City, NJ.

How Can You Participate
in ATLARGE 2009?
EVERYONE IS WELCOME!
But, because we all originally met over the
Internet, the only rule for
participation in any of our events is that you must register over the
Internet. Since you're reading this, you've
already come to the right place. If you fill out the registration
information below, you're in! Then, all you have to do is pay for the
registration fee, and show up and have fun.
When is ATLARGE 2009?
ATLARGE will begin on Thursday, March 12, 2009 with the
annual SMOKER
DINNER at the OLD WATERWAY INN, and conclude on Sunday, March 15, 2009
with our third tournament of the weekend. Here are the details:
Sponsorship
We hope to hold a private ATLARGE banquet, just like last
year, on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at the TAJ. Confirmation and
details will be announced here.

The "SMOKER" DINNER
The SMOKER DINNER is at the OLD WATERWAY INN. This fabulous
dinner will
take place on Thursday night, March 12, 2009 at 8:00pm. Smoking is
ALLOWED, so a special "up wind" end of the table is reserved for
non-smokers. Please consider attending this wonderful event. The food
is
very good, the cigars are excellent, and the company is the best! To
attend, all you have to do is show up at the restaurant. If you need a
ride, there will be several cars heading from the TAJ to the restaurant
about 7:30 on Thursday. We gather near the HIGH SIDE PODIUM at the TAJ
about 7:00pm so if you want to attend and need a ride you can find it
there. Otherwise, you'll find us at THE OLD WATERWAY INN by 8:00pm.
Everyone is invited.
This meal is 'Dutch treat'. Everyone will be expected to pay
for what
they eat and drink, PLUS a 20% gratuity for the wait staff at the
restaurant. We all know that math is hard, so we will have at least two
bona fide math geeks at the dinner to help you figure out how much you
owe.
RING GAMES
The TAJ will spread cash games at all limits, including an
ARG
favorite,
the $7.50-$15.00 "pink chip" holdem game! Baby PL is also available, if
there is sufficient interest.

All of these events are NO REBUY events. This does NOT mean
that TOM
GOODWIN is not invited...he is. It means that he, and everyone else,
will have to find a way to win these tournaments with only the original
buy-in chips!
Hospitality Suite
The TAJ will again be providing our group with a r00ling
HOSPITALITY
SUITE. A great place to relax and meet other r00lerz and enjoy an adult
beverage or two!!
Transportation
Unfortunately, for those planning to fly, ATLANTIC CITY is
not terribly
easy to reach. There is an airport just nine miles from Atlantic City,
but regularly scheduled flights there are usually BRUTALLY EXPENSIVE.
Once at the Atlantic City airport, cabs are readily available. The
PHILADELPHIA airport is 50 miles from Atlantic City, with regular train
service for only $8. Pick up the SEPTA R1 train directly in front of
the
Philadelphia airport terminals, and take the train to 30th Street
Station in Philadelphia (three stops after leaving the airport). Change
trains at 30th Street for NJ Transit for Atlantic City. NJ Transit will
drop you off at the Atlantic City train station 9 blocks off the
boardwalk. Your NJ Transit ticket includes no-wait bus service to all
casinos when you exit the train. Schedules for these trains are located

You are well advised
to check the train schedules in advance, lest you be destined to repeat
ADB Jester's overnight stay in 30th Street station at ATLARGE III,
missing the Smoker.
Lodging
The TAJ has set aside a block of rooms for us at the rates
of $99.00 on Friday, $149.00 on Saturday, and $69.00 on other nights.
They have set aside
rooms for
the ATLARGE registrants beyond the rooms they normally make available
to
poker players, to insure that we all have access to these reduced rate
rooms. You MUST be registered for ATLARGE to be eligible for these
rooms. Once you register here for ATLARGE, room reservations can be
made
directly with "MARSHA" on weekdays from 10:00am - 5:00pm at the TAJ at
1-800-72POKER (1.800.727.6537). Simply mention the ATLARGE group when
you book your
rooms. ***PLEASE NOTE THAT IF YOU
BOOK A ROOM AS AN "ATLARGE" MEMBER
AND
YOU DO NOT REGISTER FOR ATLARGE YOUR RESERVATION WILL BE *CANCELLED*
WITHOUT NOTICE TO YOU***
Please note that rooms are NOT unlimited. So, if you are a
regular
poker player at the TAJ and are already eligible for their poker rate,
please make your reservation as you normally would, WITHOUT mentioning
ATLARGE. This will help save our designated rooms for others.
Mailing List
If you aren't already signed up for it, we recommend you join
the
ATLARGE mailing list. In addition to the rec.gambling.poker
newsgroup,
lots of us trade insults on this list. Oh, and we also keep informed
about ATLARGE type stuff here too. Late registration details will also
be
announced there.
Registration
Fee
To attend our events and play in our tournaments, everyone
must register and pay the
ATLARGE REGISTRATION FEE of $20. For your $20 you'll get a $5 food
coupon for use at any TAJ restaurant, admission to the
any sponsored dinners (if they are scheduled), and a special gift and
memento. Registrants are also entitled to book a room at the TAJ from a
block that has been set aside for us, at their discounted poker rate.
The
$20 registration fee must be paid
in advance. The $120 per tournament must be paid at the Taj
prior to the event.
Firm Deadline
The registration deadline is: Monday, March 9, 2009. If you
have not
registered and paid your $20 registration fee by that Monday before ATLARGE,
you will NOT be able to attend. Please be guided accordingly.
Payment
Payment of your registration fee must made by check. No PayPal and
no credit cards of any kind will be accepted.
